The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K was released in August of 2019. It is a cinema camera that sports a Super 35 sensor with an EF mount up front. This camera took the industry by storm when it was released as it allowed RAW video at an affordable price point. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what RAW video is, it is essentially an uncompressed video file which allows for a much wider variety of post-editing workflow than other video formats. The BMPCC6K is the successor to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, which has a Micro Four-thirds mount and sensor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE84uQv32hM   The majority of our shoots at Gear Focus involve the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K, usually for interviews or talking head sections. This is done because the 6K resolution allows for us to punch in and reframe in post, getting a wider variety of shots in the final cut. Also the RAW video format, while they do have massive file sizes, allows for much greater image flexibility in post as well.

Something to keep in mind though is that the BMPCC6K cannot shoot 4K RAW video. We can only shoot 4K video in ProRes formats, with 422 being the least compressed and Proxy as the most compressed. ProRes 422 does allow for 10-bit color, which means the colors are able to be pushed and pulled in post since there is more color information.
