The Canon EOS R was released on October 25th, 2018. When the camera came out, it was met with a lot of skepticism. Over time, the EOS R has slowly become the go-to camera for YouTubers and content creators alike. The EOS R is Canon's first Full-Frame mirrorless camera. It sports a 30.1 MP sensor and shoots 4K video up to 30 frames per second. So check out our Canon EOS R full tutorial and user guide! https://youtu.be/_YwqRo3Ualc The Canon EOS R somehow manages to find it's way onto every single one of our shoots here at Gear Focus. It is our main B-Roll camera. Directly out of camera, the images look absolutely incredible. The first time I used this camera was for a wedding, and I remember looking at the images afterwards and being blown away at how good they look.

A Rough Start for Canon

When the EOS R first came out, it was not received well. The specifications for the camera were quite underwhelming and left many wondering what in the world Canon was doing. The biggest issue that more than a few people seemed to have with the EOS R was the 1.75x crop in 4K. HOW COULD CANON DO THIS TO US?! That tune changed once people started actually using the camera. The 1080p video that the camera produced rivaled many other manufacturers 4K video. Plus with the addition of the RF mount, the EOS R opened up an entire new ecosystem to Canon users. The RF lenses are absolutely incredible and therefore I truly believe they will be the industry standard moving forward.
