The chips are down in the camera industry and that spells trouble for new gear in time for the holidays. New cameras are sold out everywhere. Like other industries, the largest brands in the photo industry were not immune to chip production delays caused by the Covid 19 pandemic. <!--more--> What started with low inventory of the Nikon Z7 II and the Fujifilm GFX100S has expanded to basically every new camera and lens in the industry. Sony, Canon, and Fujifilm are still feeling the burn from delays stemming all the way back to 2020. While camera and lens makers are still regularly announcing new products, those launches are nearly immediately followed by notices of short supply, “unexpected” demand, or delays. Simply put, demand is higher than ever but there simply are no new products to sell.
