The Canon PowerShot S1 IS is a point-and-shoot digital camera powered by Canon's DIGIC image processor and a 3.2MP sensor, capturing stills at up to 2048x1536 pixels. The ISO range runs from 50 to 400, giving you clean exposures in well-lit environments. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is built in to help reduce blur from hand movement.
For autofocus, the camera uses contrast detection with 1 focus point, and manual focus is also available. Burst shooting reaches 1.7fps, and five color profiles — Standard, Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, and Black & White — let you customize the look of your images in-camera. Video records at up to 480p / 30fps in 8-bit color.
The 1.5-inch fixed LCD at 114,000 dots and the built-in Electronic Viewfinder give you two ways to frame your shots. Images are stored on CompactFlash cards, and the body is powered by 4x AA batteries (NiMH recommended). The camera body is constructed from plastic, measures 111 x 78 x 66 mm, and weighs 370g, with no weather sealing.
