The Canon PowerShot SD400 is a 5MP point-and-shoot camera built on a 1/2.5-inch sensor and powered by Canon's DIGIC II image processor. Maximum still image resolution is 2592x1944 pixels, with color profile choices of Standard, Vivid, and Neutral. Autofocus is handled by a contrast detection system spanning 9 focus points.
ISO sensitivity ranges from 50 to 400. Video can be recorded at up to 480p at either 15fps or 30fps. The 2.0-inch LCD display offers 118,000 dots of resolution, and an optical viewfinder is also available.
The body measures 85.8 x 53.4 x 21.1 mm and weighs just 170g, with a plastic construction and no weather sealing. Storage uses SD cards, and the NB-4L Lithium-Ion battery is rated for approximately 150 shots per charge. A built-in flash is included, and connectivity is provided via USB.
