The Canon Vixia HF G50 is a consumer camcorder centered on a 1/2.3-inch sensor with 8.29MP resolution and a DIGIC DV 6 image processor. Video capture tops out at 4K resolution with frame rates of 24fps and 30fps, recorded in 8-bit color. Two color profiles are available — Standard and Cinelike — for both video and photo shooting modes, with a maximum still resolution of 3840x2160.
The autofocus relies on contrast detection, supplemented by face detection and subject tracking. Stabilization is handled by Optical IS, with Digital IS also available. Framing options include a 3.0-inch LCD at 460,000 dots and an electronic viewfinder running at 1.56 million dots and 60Hz.
