Camera Overview — Leica Typ 246
Key Features — Leica Typ 246
Dedicated Monochrome Sensor: The 24MP full-frame sensor has no color filter array, meaning every pixel captures pure luminance data for sharper detail and cleaner tonal gradations than a color sensor converted to black and white.
24MP Full-Frame Sensor: Delivers a maximum resolution of 5952x3976 pixels, providing sufficient detail for large-format prints and significant cropping latitude.
ISO 320–25000 Range: A native minimum of ISO 320 reflects the sensor's monochrome-optimized design, while the upper limit of 25000 allows shooting in very low light conditions.
Optical Rangefinder Viewfinder: A 0.68x magnification optical viewfinder with a mechanical rangefinder patch enables precise manual focus confirmation without relying on a digital display.
Manual Focus Only: All focusing is handled via the traditional rangefinder patch system, making this a camera suited to deliberate, methodical shooting technique.
Brass and Magnesium Body: The 680g body combines a magnesium alloy shell with brass top and bottom plates, providing a substantial, traditionally constructed feel in hand.
