Key Features — Nikon Coolpix P6000
13.5MP 1/1.7-Inch Sensor: A larger-than-average compact sensor paired with Nikon's EXPEED processor delivers more detail and better image quality than typical point-and-shoots.
Wide ISO 64–6400 Range: A base ISO of 64 allows clean shots in bright light, while the upper end of 6400 provides usability in low-light situations.
Optical Image Stabilization: Lens-based OIS compensates for camera shake during handheld shooting, particularly useful at longer zoom lengths.
Standard ISO Hot Shoe: A hot shoe for external flash units goes beyond what most compacts offer, enabling more advanced lighting setups.
Magnesium Alloy Front Panel: The metal front panel gives the P6000 a more durable, rigid feel compared to all-plastic compact cameras at the same weight class.
Optical Viewfinder: A dedicated optical viewfinder provides an alternative to the LCD for composing shots, useful in bright outdoor conditions.

Description — Nikon Coolpix P6000
The Nikon COOLPIX P6000 centers on a 13.5MP 1/1.7-inch sensor paired with Nikon's EXPEED image processor, packaged into a compact body measuring 107 x 66 x 43 mm and weighing just 240g. The front panel is constructed from magnesium alloy, providing structural rigidity that sets it apart from all-plastic compacts. Sensitivity runs from ISO 64 to ISO 6400, and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is on board to help keep images sharp in lower light or at longer distances.
Autofocus is handled by a Contrast Detection and Face Detection AF system covering 9 focus points. Still photos are captured at up to 4224x3168 pixels with color output selectable from Standard, Vivid, Black & White, and Custom profiles. Composing shots is possible through either the 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot TFT LCD or the optical viewfinder.
A built-in pop-up flash covers everyday needs, while the standard ISO hot shoe opens the door to external flash units with multiple flash modes available. Video recording supports up to 640x480 at 30fps in 8-bit quality. Storage options include SD, SDHC, and internal storage, with USB connectivity for transfer.
The EN-EL5 lithium-ion battery is rated for approximately 260 shots per charge (CIPA standard).
