The Nikon D40X is a compact DSLR built on an APS-C sensor with 10MP resolution and Nikon's Expeed image processor. It captures stills at up to 3872x2592 pixels with a burst rate of 3 frames per second, and supports both sRGB and Adobe RGB color profiles to suit different post-processing workflows. The autofocus system is a Phase Detection setup using a 3-point Multi-CAM530 array — practical for general shooting.
Sensitivity runs from ISO 100 to 1600. The rear display is a 2.5-inch fixed LCD with 230,000 dots, complemented by an optical pentamirror viewfinder at 0.8x magnification. The body is constructed from polycarbonate over a metal chassis, weighing just 481g and measuring 126 x 94 x 64 mm.
