The Olympus FE-280 is a compact point-and-shoot camera with an 8MP sensor on a 1/2.3-inch chip, processed by the TruePic III image processor. Maximum still output reaches 3264x2448 pixels, with a choice of Standard, High, or Super High JPEG quality profiles. Composing shots is handled via the 2.5-inch TFT LCD with 230,000 dots — there is no optical viewfinder.
Autofocus combines contrast detection with Face Detection AF for a single focus point system that keeps subjects centered and sharp. Stabilization is provided by Digital/Electronic IS. The built-in flash covers Auto, Red-Eye Reduction, Forced On, and Off modes for everyday lighting scenarios.
The stainless metal body weighs just 108g and measures 91.8 x 55.7 x 19.1mm, with no weather sealing. ISO spans 50 to 1600, and burst shooting reaches 3fps. Video records at up to 480p at 30fps in 8-bit color.
