The Olympus Tough TG-820 iHS is a 12MP point-and-shoot compact camera built on a 1/2.3-inch sensor driven by the TruePic VI image processor. Its weather-sealed body — constructed from metal and plastic and measuring just 101 x 65 x 26 mm at 206g — is engineered for active use rather than just casual snapping. The 3.0-inch fixed LCD delivers a detailed 1,030,000-dot view for composing stills and video alike.
Stabilization is handled by a Sensor-Shift IBIS system backed up by digital IS, helping to keep shots steady on the move. The autofocus system uses contrast detection across modes including Face Detection, iESP Auto, Spot AF, and AF Tracking, with full subject tracking support. For stills, maximum resolution reaches 3968 x 2976, with burst shooting at 5fps and color profiles spanning Standard, Vivid, Natural, Portrait, Monotone, Custom, and Magic Filters.
Video tops out at 1080p at 30fps (or 24fps) in 8-bit color. The camera stores images on SD, SDHC, or SDXC cards, connects via USB and Micro HDMI, and runs on the LI-50B battery for approximately 220 shots per charge. A built-in flash and ISO 100–6400 range complete the package.
