The body is constructed from polycarbonate with a stainless steel chassis and is rated weather-resistant, dustproof, and cold-proof to -10°C, making it well-suited to outdoor and travel photography in variable conditions. In-body Sensor-shift SR II stabilization rated at 4.5 stops means every Pentax K mount lens benefits from shake reduction without needing stabilized glass.
The SAFOX X 11-point phase-detection AF system — with 9 cross-type points at center — handles focus in the viewfinder, while contrast-detection and subject tracking are available in Live View. Composing shots is easy with the optical pentaprism viewfinder or the 3.0-inch vari-angle TFT LCD featuring 1,037,000 dots and a night vision mode.
