It boasts a large T1.5 aperture that excels in low-light conditions and provides precise depth of field control. The lens features an 8-blade diaphragm, contributing to pleasant out-of-focus areas known as bokeh, and is equipped with standardized gearings on focus and aperture rings to accommodate follow focus systems. A de-clicked aperture ring enables smooth and silent exposure adjustments, ideal for video recording. The design incorporates an aspherical element and a hybrid aspherical element to minimize aberrations. A multi-coating on the lens elements ensures improved light transmission and reduced flare, while internal focusing negates lens breathing, preserving a consistent angle-of-view during focus adjustments. The 77mm filter thread remains unchanged when focusing, aiding filter use. This lens is part of the Rokinon DS series, which is unified by color matching and consistent ring placement across lenses for seamless interchangeability and convenience when on set.
