Camera Overview — Sony FX9
Key Features — Sony FX9
Full-Frame ~20.5MP Sensor: A 35mm full-frame sensor with oversampled 4K output gives cinematographers wide field of view and high-resolution source material for cropping and reframing in post.
10-Bit 4:2:2 Internal Recording: Records 10-bit 4:2:2 footage internally, providing substantial color data for grading without requiring an external recorder.

Description — Sony FX9
The Sony FX9 Cinema Camera is built around a full-frame (35mm) sensor with 20.5 MP actual / 19 MP effective resolution, processed through Sony's advanced image processing with debayering and down-sampling. It captures in 6K with DCI 4K output, recording internally at 10-bit 4:2:2 and outputting 16-bit RAW externally for maximum flexibility in post. Supported frame rates range from 24fps to 120fps, covering cinematic, broadcast, and slow-motion needs.
Color science options include S-Cinetone, S-Log3, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), and User 3D LUTs. The autofocus system spans 561 points and combines Phase Detection, Contrast Detection, Eye Detection AF, and AI-Based Subject Tracking. Monitoring is handled by a 3.5-inch fully articulated LCD at 2.76 million dots and a removable OLED EVF also at 2.76 million dots with a 60Hz refresh rate.
The weather-sealed body is made from magnesium alloy and polycarbonate composite, measuring 146 x 142.5 x 239 mm and weighing 2 kg. Connectivity includes Full HDMI Type A (4K capable), Wi-Fi, USB, and 3.5mm stereo mini jacks for both headphone and microphone.
