Lens Overview — Tokina ATX-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF
Key Features — Tokina ATX-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF
11-20mm f/2.8 Constant Aperture: The f/2.8 maximum aperture holds steady across the entire zoom range, giving you consistent exposure and low-light capability whether you're at 11mm or 20mm.
APS-C Format Coverage: Designed specifically for APS-C sensor DSLRs, delivering a 35mm-equivalent field of view of approximately 16.5-30mm for wide-angle shooting.
One-Touch Focus Clutch: A push/pull action on the focus ring instantly switches between autofocus and manual focus, with hard stops at both ends of the manual focus travel for precise control.
Silent-Drive Motor AF: The SD-M autofocus motor with GMR positioning sensor drives focus quietly, making it suitable for video capture and discreet shooting environments.
3 SD Low-Dispersion Elements: Super-low dispersion glass minimizes chromatic aberration across the frame, particularly useful at wide focal lengths where color fringing is common.
3 Aspherical Elements: A combination of 2 glass-molded and 1 P-MO hybrid aspherical elements helps control distortion and spherical aberration across the wide-angle zoom range.
Description — Tokina ATX-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF
The Tokina ATX-i 11-20mm f/2.8 CF is built around a 14-element, 12-group optical design that incorporates 3 aspherical elements (2 glass-molded, 1 P-MO hybrid) and 3 SD (super-low dispersion) elements for a wide-angle zoom tailored to APS-C DSLR cameras on the Nikon F mount. The lens delivers a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture from 11mm to 20mm, with a minimum aperture of f/22 and 9 diaphragm blades. Angles of view range from 104° at the wide end to 72° at the telephoto end.
Autofocus is powered by a Silent-Drive Motor (SD-M) with a GMR sensor, and the signature One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism lets shooters snap between auto and manual focus with a simple push or pull of the focus ring — with manual focus hard stops for precise framing. The minimum focus distance is 28cm with a magnification ratio of 1:8. The front element carries a water-repellent top coating, and the full optical path features an anti-reflective multi-layer coating.
At 555g and 91.8mm in length with an 82mm filter thread, the lens ships with the Tokina BH-821 lens hood and is backed by a 3-year limited manufacturer warranty.
