Lens Overview — Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC
Key Features — Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC
75mm Prime Focal Length: A fixed 75mm field of view sits between standard and telephoto, making it well-suited to portraiture and close-subject work where natural compression is desirable.
f/2.5 Maximum Aperture: A moderately wide maximum aperture allows for subject separation and usable light gathering in lower-light conditions.
M39 Screw Mount (LTM): Compatible with Leica Thread Mount rangefinder cameras and a wide range of adapters, giving this lens broad usability across film and digital bodies.
Full-Frame Coverage: Designed to cover a full-frame image circle, so there are no vignetting concerns on compatible full-frame rangefinder bodies.
Multi-Coated Optics: The MC designation indicates multi-coated lens elements that help reduce flare and ghosting, improving contrast in challenging lighting.
Manual Focus Design: Fully manual focus operation is tailored to the rangefinder shooting experience, with no autofocus motor or electronics.

Description — Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC
The Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC Color-Heliar is a 75mm fixed focal length telephoto prime built for the M39 Screw Mount — the classic Leica Thread Mount used by a range of rangefinder cameras. With a maximum aperture of f/2.5, it delivers a useful degree of light-gathering capability for a telephoto lens. Designed for full-frame coverage, it performs without compromise on full-frame compatible M39 bodies.
Weighing in at just 230g, this is a genuinely portable telephoto option that won't weigh down a rangefinder kit. Focusing is manual, keeping with the deliberate, tactile shooting style that rangefinder photography is known for. A 43mm filter thread rounds out the practical specification set, allowing photographers to use standard circular filters.
No image stabilization is included, consistent with its manual focus, rangefinder-targeted design.
Pros — Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC
- ✓Compact and lightweight at just 230g for a 75mm telephoto prime
- ✓Maximum aperture of f/2.5 provides a reasonably wide opening for a telephoto focal length
- ✓Full-frame coverage means no crop factor concerns on compatible full-frame M39 bodies
Cons — Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 MC
- ✗Manual focus only — no autofocus option for those who need it
- ✗No image stabilization, which can be a limitation at 75mm in lower light handheld shooting
- ✗M39 Screw Mount limits this lens to a relatively niche set of compatible camera bodies
