Overview — Sigma SD9
Key Features — Sigma SD9
Foveon X3 APS-C Sensor: The SD9 uses Sigma's Foveon X3 sensor, which captures full color data at every pixel location by stacking three layers of photodetectors, unlike conventional Bayer-pattern sensors.
3.4MP Foveon Output: Delivers a 2268x1512 pixel image with per-pixel color accuracy that proponents argue rivals higher-megapixel Bayer sensors in fine detail rendering.
Sigma SA Lens Mount: Compatible with the full range of Sigma SA system lenses, giving shooters access to a dedicated lineup of Sigma optics.
Optical Pentaprism Viewfinder: Provides a bright, true through-the-lens optical viewing experience typical of professional-grade DSLRs of its era.
ISO 100–400 Range: Limited native ISO range reflects the Foveon sensor's characteristics and is best suited to well-lit shooting conditions.
Phase Detection Autofocus: Single center-point phase detection AF enables reliable focus acquisition for stationary or slow-moving subjects.
