Optimized for portrait photography and low-light conditions, the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM embodies a unique combination of a preferred short-telephoto perspective and an ultra-bright maximum aperture. The state-of-the-art optical structure ensures top-tier image correction. Its swift f/1.2 aperture excels in dimly lit scenarios, complementing both selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques. The lens’s construction features a Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics element which virtually eradicates color shifting and chromatic aberrations for enhanced clarity and color accuracy. Additionally, it hosts one ultra-low dispersion element and an aspherical element to diminish various image distortions, delivering elevated sharpness and resolution. Elements are treated with an Air Sphere Coating to reduce lens flare and ghosting, permitting superior contrast and color fidelity in luminous and backlit environments. Adept autofocus performance is assured through a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor, which guarantees swift, whisper-quiet focusing along with full-time manual focus capability. The lens integrates a customizable Control Ring for direct adjustments to exposure settings.

The Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM Lens is a premium portrait lens designed for Canon's RF-mount mirrorless cameras. It features a bright f/1.2 maximum aperture for exceptional low-light performance and shallow depth of field, making it ideal for portraits and artistic photography.

The Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM is a **full-frame prime lens** built natively for the **Canon RF mirrorless mount**. Its fixed **85mm focal length** places it firmly in the standard-to-short-telephoto range, and the **f/1.2 maximum aperture** makes it one of the brightest options available in this focal length for the RF system. Weighing **1,195g**, this is a substantial lens that reflects the engineering involved in delivering f/1.2 performance across a full-frame image circle. Both **autofocus and manual focus** are supported, offering flexibility across a range of shooting scenarios. The **82mm filter thread** provides compatibility with a wide selection of readily available filters. One notable specification to consider: **image stabilization is absent**, so any shake reduction when shooting handheld must come from the camera body itself. For Canon RF-mount mirrorless photographers who want a dedicated 85mm prime with a very wide maximum aperture, this lens represents a purpose-built option within the RF ecosystem.

An exceptionally wide f/1.2 aperture allows for significant light gathering and extreme subject isolation with very shallow depth of field.

Dust and moisture resistant sealing makes the lens suitable for use in challenging outdoor conditions.

Weather-Sealed Construction

A standard 82mm filter thread provides broad compatibility with ND, polarizing, and other filters commonly used at this lens class.

82mm Filter Thread

At just over 1.2kg, the lens reflects the substantial optical engineering needed to achieve f/1.2 across a full-frame image circle.

1,195g Build Weight

The customizable control ring on the lens barrel can be assigned to exposure settings such as aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation.
