Optical Design

The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 is a **prime wide-angle lens** built for **APS-C format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras**. Its **16mm fixed focal length** positions it squarely in wide-angle territory, making it a natural fit for travel photography, street shooting, and any scenario where a compact, lightweight lens is an advantage. Tipping the scales at just **67 grams**, it adds virtually nothing to your camera bag and pairs well with Sony's compact APS-C mirrorless bodies. The **f/2.8 maximum aperture** delivers solid performance in mixed or low-light conditions, and the lens accommodates **49mm filters** — an accessible and widely available thread size. Both **autofocus and manual focus** are supported, offering shooting flexibility whether you're capturing fast-moving subjects or carefully composing a landscape. It is worth noting that the lens has **no built-in image stabilization**, so stabilization must come from the camera body if needed. For Sony E-mount APS-C shooters looking for a lightweight, wide-angle prime with autofocus and a fast-enough aperture for general use, this lens delivers a focused, no-compromise option.

Fixed 16mm focal length on APS-C delivers a broad field of view well suited to street, travel, and landscape shooting.

16mm Wide-Angle Prime

Allows more light than typical kit zoom lenses at wide focal lengths, useful for low-light shooting and modest depth-of-field control.

f/2.8 Maximum Aperture

Designed specifically for APS-C Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, including the a6000 series and ZV-E10.

Sony E Mount, APS-C Format

One of the lightest lenses available for the Sony E mount system, adding minimal bulk to any camera body.

67g Compact Build

Built-in autofocus motor enables fast, reliable focusing for everyday and travel shooting without switching to manual.

Autofocus Support

Small filter diameter keeps the cost of compatible filters and accessories low and widely available.

49mm Filter Thread

Lacks optical stabilization, so shooters will need to rely on in-body stabilization if their camera supports it.

No Image Stabilization
