Weather-Sealed Construction

The Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G is a **prime** lens designed for **Sony E-mount** mirrorless cameras with **full-frame** coverage. With a **40mm** focal length sitting squarely in the standard range, it delivers a natural perspective that suits a wide variety of shooting situations — from street photography to everyday documentation. The **f/2.5** maximum aperture allows for pleasant background separation and helps maintain usable shutter speeds in less-than-ideal lighting. At just **173g**, this lens is genuinely lightweight, making it easy to carry without fatigue during extended shoots or travel. It accepts **49mm** filters, a compact thread size that keeps accessory costs in check. Both **autofocus and manual focus** are supported, giving photographers the flexibility to work in whatever mode suits the moment. There is **no optical image stabilization** built into the lens, so stabilization-dependent shooters will want to factor in their camera body's capabilities. For Sony E-mount photographers seeking a compact, capable standard prime, the FE 40mm f/2.5 G offers a well-balanced combination of focal length, aperture, and portability.

A natural field of view close to human perspective, well-suited for street, travel, and everyday photography.

40mm F/2.5 Prime

A dedicated aperture ring can be switched between clicked and de-clicked operation for smooth exposure transitions in video.
