The sync is either via a 1/8th female jack or it has an adjustable light sensor, and you can trigger it with a separate flash. There's a slider switch from 1-4 that can accommodate the pre-flashes that some cameras use for TTL. To use that, you'll need to install a CR 2032 battery. I never used that part. I was a Pocket Wizard guy, and this lets you use one pocket wizard to trigger three flashes (yeah, lots of ways to do that besides this). It's solid and your strobes are nicely locked in place.
Accommodates 7, 8, and 10mm umbrella shafts. There are TWO umbrella mounts above the swivel. Bounce into a reflective umbrella and then through a shoot-through for a super soft and dispersed light.
Plus, with three flashes, you can turn the power down and have a rapid refresh on all of them.
Or, load it with two flashes, put a cold shoe adapter in one of the spots, and place your flash trigger in the cold shoe.
I bought mine in 2011 for $143.10. Selling with Free Shipping at less than half of that amount.
