The Nikon F3 is a legendary professional-grade 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced in 1980. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it was the first F-series camera with electronic controls and aperture-priority auto exposure. Known for its robust build, reliability, and modular design, the F3 was a staple for photojournalists and professional photographers throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.

The Nikon F3 is a **full-frame 35mm** film SLR camera built on the **Nikon F lens mount**, exposing a standard **24mm x 36mm film frame** with each shot. The body is constructed from a **copper-aluminum alloy chassis with a metal exterior**, measuring **142 x 89.5 x 60mm** and weighing **700g** — solid enough to handle professional use while remaining manageable in the field. The F3 carries a **dust-resistant** rating, adding a degree of protection during outdoor and on-location work. Metering supports an **ISO range of 12 to 6400**, offering genuine versatility across different film emulsions. The **optical pentaprism viewfinder** features an **in-viewfinder LCD display** that shows shutter speed information during shooting. Flash users will find **TTL flash support** with compatible Nikon Speedlights via the **standard ISO hot shoe**, with an **X-sync speed of 1/80 sec**. For situations requiring rapid capture, the F3 supports **burst mode at up to 6 fps**. Power comes from **2x LR44/SR44 or 1x DL1/3N batteries**, rated for thousands of exposures across metering and shutter operation.

Compatible with a vast range of Nikon F-mount lenses spanning decades of production, from classic manual primes to modern autofocus glass.

Nikon F Lens Mount

Exposes the standard 24x36mm film frame, making full use of any 35mm film stock loaded into the camera.

Full-Frame 35mm Format

Film speed indexing covers a wide range of film stocks, from slow fine-grain stocks to fast high-ISO films for low-light shooting.

Wide Film Speed Range

Set your aperture and the F3 selects the appropriate shutter speed automatically, streamlining exposure in fast-moving situations.

Aperture-Priority AE

The metal chassis and exterior give the F3 a robust, professional-grade build quality that holds up to heavy daily use.

Copper-Aluminum Alloy Body

Shows shutter speed information inside the optical pentaprism viewfinder so you can monitor exposure without taking your eye off the subject.

In-Viewfinder LCD Display

With the optional MD-4 motor drive attached, the F3 can shoot at up to 6 frames per second for continuous action sequences.

6 fps with MD-4 Motor Drive

Works with compatible Nikon Speedlights for through-the-lens flash metering, with X-sync at 1/80 sec.

Nikon F3 Review

Nikon F3 Film Camera Body Beautiful Condition, very low usage, all functions work great. Cosmetically mint- condition with very if any signs of use on the body. 2nd owner here for 15 years (first owner never used the camera). I put through about 2 rolls a year. Winder works great of course. With the winder it is a bit heavy to carry around all day, so I rarely used it. But u know great conversation starter and you definitely will look like a 1980s newspaper photographer with the winder. Both camera and winder comes with box. Camera with body cap and strap.
